What is a Local Place Plan?

A Local Place Plan will highlight what matters                   most to local residents on matters such as:

  • conservation of the natural/built environment

  • wildlife and biodiversity preservation

  • retaining, improving, and expanding quality open space and play facilities and community assets

  • local initiatives for the promotion of active travel, streets and roads

  • sites for housing, including affordable housing

  • local economy and infrastructure

  • improvements in the local area

  • local heritage and community assets

What does a Local Place Plan do?

A Local Place Plan acts as a living document to be           referenced in decision making by statutory bodies,           community organisations, landowners and business.

It will reflect the values, vision, and aspirations of our      community and ensure that local voices are heard          where it matters most.

What is the procedure and                        process?

Community engagement is central to the process.           The collation of consultation responses will inform           and shape the draft Local Place Plan. The draft Local       Place Plan will be published for public consultation.         This will include Elected Members, MP and MSP and         all active adjoining Community Councils.

This will be communicated to them via an                       Information Notice. The final Local Place Plan will be       submitted to the local authority.
